After serving as the president of West Africa Insurance Companies Association for two years, Joe Ameh, managing director, Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation, handed over baton of the association’s leadership to Sessolo Thomas, his Gambian counterpart.
At a ceremony held in the Gambia recently, Ameh expressed his appreciation to the association’s member, majority of which were from Nigeria for the support he received from them during his tenure as the president.
WAICA is an international association of 400 insurance companies and institutions in West Africa; its primary objectives are to promote cooperation in every respect among all and the insurers and reinsurers operating in the sub-region, and to promote the quality and scope of the insurance industry in West Africa.
The association which was formed in May 4, 1973, has its secretariat at the head office of the Ghana Reinsurance Organization, Accra.
