Kapital Insurance which is now operating with well over N3 billion capital is the product of the merger of Intercontinental Assurance Company Limited, Global Commerce and General Assurance Company and Kapital Insurance. The new company has the backing of Unity Bank as the core investor.

Kari graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from where he proceeded to Glasgow, Scotland, for his Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He later joined Yankari Insurance Company, Bauchi, in 1984 and rose to the position of an assistant general manager. In 1989, he was appointed the executive director of Niger Insurance, from where he moved to Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation as the helmsman and was later redeployed to NICON insurance in the same capacity.
