Mohammed Kari, former managing director of Nigeria Reinsurance and NICON Insurance corporations, has been appointed the managing director of Kapital Insurance Company.
Kapital Insurance which is now operating with well over N3 billion capital is the product of the merger of Intercontinental Assurance Company Limited, Global Commerce and General Assurance Company and Kapital Insurance. The new company has the backing of Unity Bank as the core investor.
Before his new appointment, Kari was the chief executive officer of Aristo Consultants, the firm that handled the merger of the companies in the group. He joined Royal exchange Assurance Nigeria as the branch manager of the Kano office.
Kari graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from where he proceeded to Glasgow, Scotland, for his Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He later joined Yankari Insurance Company, Bauchi, in 1984 and rose to the position of an assistant general manager. In 1989, he was appointed the executive director of Niger Insurance, from where he moved to Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation as the helmsman and was later redeployed to NICON insurance in the same capacity. He left NICON in January 2000.
Kari, holds the record as the youngest professional to lead both NICON and Nigeria Re, said that the new Kapital Insurance will excel.
