The chartered Insurance of Nigeria, CIIN and the Professional Insurance Ladies Association, PILA, will on Friday, August 10, 2007 give awards to deserving women achievers.
The event which was conceived as convocation of women in insurance practice, is intended to celebrate professionalism and service excellence through conferment of awards on deserving amazons of the insurance industry and the financial services sector, generally.
The recipients include Oluseyi Ifaturoti, CIIN immediate past president, CIIN’s Catherine Okpareke, immediate past president of ICAN, Juliet Madubueze, president of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, CIBN and Omowunmi Oluwadare, managing director, Wunmi ‘O’ Creations amongst others.
Speaking on the essence of the awards, Folashade Onanuga, president of the PILA, noted that professionalism and service excellence are, unarguably, the hallmarks of achieving success in today’s complex business and professional terrain. She added that adherence to codes of best practice and corporate governance ideals are the prerequisites for avoiding colossal business failures and the dissipation of managerial energies in the wrong direction.
Adegboyega Adepega, director-general, CIIN, commenting on the award, praised the rise of women achievers in today’s financial services industry and in politics, saying that the imperatives for gender mainstreaming are becoming more compelling for the simple reason that women are now surmounting the basic challenges of gender discrimination by proving themselves as being equal to the task in fields where men hitherto held sway.
