In a major push for environmental sustainability, the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) and the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) are set to collaborate with ITREALMS Media on the 2025 ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue. This crucial partnership addresses Nigeria’s escalating electronic waste (e-waste) challenge, which currently stands at an estimated 1.2 million tonnes annually.

The influential annual event, hosted by ITREALMS Media Inc., is scheduled for Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Welcome Centre Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos.

The dialogue’s urgent focus is captured in this

year’s theme: “Nigeria: Recycle your e-waste – it’s critical!”

According to the convener, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, the Dialogue is explicitly designed to transition the e-waste conversation from mere awareness to actionable national policy. It will convene a cross-section of key stakeholders—including Regulators, Industry Leaders, Recyclers, and Civil Society—to craft a unified national strategy for sustainable e-waste management.

The involvement of ALTON and NLNG signals a powerful and necessary alignment between the nation’s telecommunications industry, its energy sector, and critical environmental sustainability goals.

“The sheer volume of e-waste demands immediate, collective action,” said Nweke. He highlighted ALTON’s commitment, noting that ALTON Chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, will lead a delegation focused on Environmental Sustainability and Governance (ESG) to offer insights on the theme as it specifically impacts the telecom sector.

Nweke expressed optimism that ALTON is dedicated to developing and enforcing robust industry standards for the responsible recycling and disposal of telecom equipment and end-of-life devices.

The collaboration with NLNG, he added, is particularly significant. It underscores the vital role of corporate leadership in addressing national environmental challenges, directly aligning with NLNG’s sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments.

Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, the Group Executive Editor of ITREALMS Media Inc. and Convener of the E-Waste Dialogue, stressed the potential impact:

“The message this year is blunt: recycling is critical. We are honoured by the support from ALTON and collaboration of NLNG, whose leadership in sustainability is crucial to elevating this dialogue to a national imperative.”

The event, Nweke further said, promises a thorough examination of the challenges and opportunities within the e-waste circular economy, paving the way for definitive, sector-wide policy recommendations, especially for future leaders.
