The total assets under the Contributory Pensions Scheme rose by N2.128tn in the first half of 2024.
Figures obtained from the National Pension Commission’s report on “Unaudited report on pension funds industry portfolio for the period ended 30 June 2024. Approved Existing Schemes, Closed Pension Fund Administrators and RSA Funds.
According to the figures, the assets rose from N18.356tn as of the end of December 2023 to N20.484tn at the end of June 2024.
Total workers with Retirement Savings Accounts also stood at 10,381,019 in the period under review.
The report showed that substantial part of the assets totaling N12.960tn was invested in Federal Government’s securities.
Other portfolios where the pension operators invested the assets are in money market instruments, and mutual funds.
