He said, “The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Muhammad, has given directive for a full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles from today, Feb. 1, 2025.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, psc(+) mnips, has charged officers on this enforcement exercise to be professional, courteous but firm in the discharge of their duties.

Ishola equally warned that no form of incivility to members of the public would be tolerated from them. The public are enjoined to cooperate with the police as this crucial enforcement exercise is a win-win situation for all.

It would be recalled that mid January, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, gave the directive for full enforcement of 3rd party insurance policy beginning from February 1st, 2025.

Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Section 312 of the 1945 Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act mandate that all vehicle owners possess third-party insurance before operating their vehicles on public roads.
