2022 TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF EVA ADELAJA GIRLS’SECONDARY GRAMMAR SCHOOL, GBAGADA, LAGOS.
Today we have another opportunity to celebrate the molders of lives and destinies, the Teachers, as we observe another Teachers Day. We have God to thank for the privilege of life.
It is appropriate to begin this statement by congratulating all our teachers for making it despite the various challenges we face everyday.
C. S. Lewis once said, “Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices”, and as the Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary Grammar School Old Girls Association, we have made the choice to express our heartfelt gratitude to our teachers (both past and present).
We also remember, at this time, our Matriach, Mrs. Evangeline Adebayo Adelaja, whose brainchild produced us, our first Principal, Mrs V. A. Onafowokan, as well as all our teachers who have gone to the realms beyond having made their own contributions in the development of human resources. May their gentle souls continue to rest in peace.
Today, we join all Parents/Guardians to say “Thank you” to all teachers who have taught and are still teaching in our Alma mater for their sacrifices and investment in the students.
As members of the OGA, we acknowledge the fact that we are what we are today by the grace of God and through the role of resource specialists, destiny supporters, mentors and helping hands played by our teachers.
Our prayer for all the teachers in our School is that your labour of love over these Students will not be in vain, and your own children will also excel in all their endeavours.
The theme for this year’s celebration is, “The Transformation of Education Begins With The Teachers”. In light of the theme, which emphasizes the core of progress (transformation), I would like to appeal to the Federal and State Governments to invest more in Education if our nation is to make any meaningful progress.
Furthermore, the Federal Government should take advantage of today’s celebration to refocus and resolve the ASUU impasse.
I would also like to encourage all teachers to continue to give their very best on the job, so as to have a better Nation.
The Old Girls Association of Eva Adelaja Girls’Secondary Grammar School wishes all teachers in our alma mater and throughout the world Happy Teachers Day.
Thank you.
