The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), has adopted Abia State
as Pilot State to deepen insurance penetration in Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the new President of NCRIB, Mrs Ekeoma Ezeibe today during a press conference held at NCRIB Secretariat in Lagos.
Ezeibe stated that her administration would adopt Abia State as a pilot scheme to tackle low insurance penetration in the country.
She explained that her administration would take insurance to both the unisured and uninformed by working with the government of Abia State to ensure insurance is fully embraced in the state.
Mrs. Ezeibe further disclosed that the main focus of her administration is to d<span;>eepen insurance penetration, completion of Olola Olabode Ogunlana House still under construction; maintaining good relationship with the regulatory body, National Insurance Commission (NAICOM); capacity building of members, which will include mentorship for young brokers and collaboration with necessary stakeholders.
According to Ezeibe, her vision is to drive a unified and more impactful insurance industry under the theme “One Insurance Industry.”
“One Insurance Industry means we will consciously do things that will help us take our rightful place in the economy,” she said
According to her, focusing on one insurance industry as a key driver would help put the sector in its rightful place in the economy of Nigeria.
“With unity of purpose, collaboration, and renewed drive for penetration, the Nigerian insurance industry will emerge stronger,” she added.
Ezeibe assured that her administration would build on the legacies laid down by her predecessors and the founding fathers of NCRIB, by maintaining cordial and robust relationships with NAICOM and other arms of the industry.
She added that the society also would be greatly impacted through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), emphasising that the insurance industry could only do better when the society is happy with its operations.
Ezeibe called on all stakeholders, including the media to join hands with her administration in taking the insurance industry to greater heights.
According to her the industry needs contributions from brokers, media, loss adjusters, underwriters, policyholders and NAICOM to attain necessary progress
