With 10 days left ahead of the highly anticipated CAF Women’s Champions League where no Nigeran team will be in participation, the countdown has begun for the prestigious Africa women continental games which is set to take centre stage in Côte d’Ivoire.
The opening match will be played on Sunday, 05 November 2023 at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo with the hosts Athletico Abidjan se to play Morocco’s Sporting Club Casablanca as both clubs are making their debut appearance in the competition.
Notbaly, Athletico Abidjan are the first women’s club from Cote d’Ivoire to play in the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
Eight Clubs will participate in the CAF Women’s Champions League 2023. The participating clubs include two previous winners: ASFAR from Morocco and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
The CAF Women’s Champions League is part of CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe’s vision of making African football globally competitive and self-sustaining and creating platforms for Women’s Football in Africa to develop.
Kanizat Ibrahim, CAF fifth Vice-President and Chairperson of CAF Women’s Football said: ‘’The third edition of CAF Women’s Champions League is a big reminder of how far we have come. When this event was launched in 2021, it was a bold step in the right direction. Today, many countries and clubs are looking forward to it. The CAF Women’s Champions League has enabled us to redefine women’s football in Africa and implement CAF’s women’s football strategy by providing new opportunities for women to play football and participate at the highest level.”
Korhogo and San Pedro are amongst the five host cities for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023.

GROUP B: AS FAR (MAR), Ampem Darkoa (GHA), Huracanes FC (Equatorial Guinea), AS Mande (Mali).
