The Director-General, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, has charged Guild of Marine Surveyors members to live above board, esteemed professionalism and good competence while offering their services.

She said this while speaking on the topic: ‘Championing Professionalism and Competence in Effective Service Delivery’ at the Second Monday Ogadina annual memorial lecture, held last week in Lagos.

According to her, members of the Guild play great role in marine insurance business, hence, they should be good ambassadors, representing insurance firms and other partners faithfully in marine underwriting.

She said the NIA, would continue to support the Guild to ensure insurance potentials in the nation’s marine sector are fully harnessed.

President, Guild of Marine Surveyors, Wale Adetoro, said the intention of the lecture series, is to uphold the legacy of Monday Ogadina’s contributions and outstanding support to the existence of the Guild of Marine Surveyors, adding that Ogadina stood for excellence and perfection which he tried to incorporate into all members of the Guild before his time was up.

“We all shared in his dreams and for as long as the Almighty spare our lives, we will keep the flag flying,” he posited.

Adetoro submitted that the Guild is currently made up of 63 corporate and 12 individual members and implore the public to patronise registered members to guarantee quality and effective service delivery.

“We still have accommodation for more members. All you need to do is to visit our website, download our membership form, complete it and submit it to our secretariat or return by mail.

“The membership committee will invite you for an interview and if admitted, you will pay the required joining fee and subscription.

“The Guild is known for professionalism, integrity, knowledge, efficiency and trust,” he said.

He maintained that the Guild is working hard to equip and train members, especially as regards quality and effective service delivery, stressing that list of the Guild’s current members are on its website.
